Indication

As an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Mechanism of action

Sitagliptin inhibits the DPP-4 enzyme, which prolongs the activity of incretin hormones. This supports glucose-dependent insulin release and reduces glucagon secretion. Metformin reduces glucose production in the liver and improves insulin sensitivity.
